Description:
As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems. In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 as well as 2-3 years previous related Facility Maintenance experience in a Healthcare setting is to be demonstrated. Knowledge of Building Systems such as Mechanical, HVAC, Refrigeration, Architectural systems, Carpentry, Electronics or Electrical systems is required. Lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.) is required with this role. Working on roofs, outdoors, indoors and responding to seasonal requirements is required. Ability to work both independently as well as be an effective team member. Due to the large area of the facility, there is a requirement for walking for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid First aid would be an asset. Valid Fit testing certificate would be an asset. Valid Fall arrest and aerial platform training would be an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Carpentry, assembly of complicated furnishings and equipment as well as flooring.
