Job summary

Fraser Health in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a Relief Full Time Maintenance Worker 5 at Burnaby Hospital. You will work with a team to maintain and repair mechanical equipment and hospital rolling stock across the facility.

The ideal candidate has four years of field experience and trades awareness in mechanical or plumbing areas; grade 10 plus experience is accepted. This role requires physical fitness and the ability to read work orders and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education with four years’ related experience or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical or plumbing trades is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs mechanical repairs to equipment such as washers, dryers, conveyors and hospital rolling stock.
• Installs plumbing fixtures and systems, extending or changing water supply and waste lines and fitting pipes.
• Installs, repairs and replaces doors and associated hardware.
• Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and tools; completes related reports; may assist in purchasing.
• Cleans snow and salts sidewalks, walkways and grounds as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Detailed Overview

Performs trades duties approaching the journeyman level in one or a variety of trades areas such as mechanical and plumbing; performs installations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of assigned mechanical equipment and rolling stock throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

1. Performs mechanical repairs to equipment such as washers, dryers, floor scrubbers, tow mobiles, pallet jacks, dishwashers, conveyors, garberaters and a variety of hospital rolling stock.
2. Installs plumbing fixtures and systems such as taps, sinks, and toilets by extending and /or changing water supply and waste lines and fitting pipes.
3. Installs, repairs and replaces doors and associated hardware such as door closures, locks, and door hardware.
4. Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment and tools; completes related reports and records; recommends purchase of related supplies and equipment.
5. Clears snow and salts sidewalks, walkways and grounds as required.
6. Performs other related duties as required.

Grade 10, plus four (4) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
