A leading company in property management seeks a Maintenance Worker to join their team in Vancouver. Hours of Work: Ave.40 hr. per week; Monday through Friday; Day (from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
Compensation: $27.50 hr. plus a generous benefit and Pension Package
Location: Downtown Eastside- Vancouver

The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisors, you are required to perform maintenance duties such as but not limited to regular inspection of the common areas, repairs/painting of vacated suites as required, preventative maintenance, ordering of necessary supplies for repairs, recommending qualified tradesmen to perform work beyond the scope of general maintenance, and other duties as may be assigned through the Maintenance Supervisor. You are also required to respond to building maintenance emergencies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Attend to maintenance issues in categories including Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Drywall, Painting, and Locks. Ensure cleanliness of the work area after repairs.
• Use internal property management software (Yardi) on a company-provided cell phone to manage work orders, prioritize tasks, and log completion times.
• Perform day-to-day maintenance duties in various work areas, including Common Areas, Washrooms, Occupied Units, Vacant Units, Building Exteriors, Basements, and Roofs.
• Ensure the work cell phone is fully charged and operational by the start of each shift.
• Arrive to work on time per the contracted schedule, logging in and out using the UKG system.
• Identify and report maintenance issues to Program Managers and Maintenance Supervisor, addressing emergency repairs immediately.
• Adhere to and comply with the Atira Policy and Procedures Manual.
• Perform additional duties as requested and/or required.
About you:
You are required to have the physical ability necessary to carry out strenuous maintenance responsibilities. The maintenance worker is regularly exposed to and in direct contact with dust, dirt, germs and human feces.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Organize and complete tasks independently, meeting all job expectations and responsibilities.
• Work cooperatively and effectively under general supervision.
• Work constructively and respectfully with program managers, staff, tenants, and colleagues.
• Operate necessary tools and equipment.
• Lift up to 50lbs, walk between buildings regardless of weather conditions, walk up and down stairs with tools and equipment, and be on your feet for most or all the workday.
• Operate a company-provided cell phone and learn to use the required maintenance applications.
Additional Requisites/Assets:
• Experience working in and/or thorough knowledge of and comfort working in the DTES is required, along with an understanding of the socioeconomic barriers within the community.
• Applicants with any combination of training/experience in painting and/or working in a supportive housing environment are encouraged to apply.
• While there are no specific educational requirements for this position, experience with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry is an asset.
• WHIMS, First Aid, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training are considered assets.
