This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Worker to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time summer contractposition within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’sPoplar location in Timmins.

Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Facility Maintenance & Housekeeping, the Maintenance Worker directs all aspects of maintenance within the facility to ensure a safe, functional, clean, and comfortable environment which is suitable for the delivery of YMCA and partner (if applicable) programming. In accordance with applicable codes and regulations, the Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance, minor repairs and servicing operations.

LOCATION: Timmins, ON

RATE OF PAY: $17.20 per hour

Major Responsibilities

  • Know the proper function and normal operating parameters of all building systems and equipment and how to adjust them. This includes but is not limited to fitness equipment, HVAC, lighting, electrical, water, sewer, pool, whirlpool, fire alarm, and sprinkler and security systems
  • Assist with all building/equipment repairs in a manner consistent with the applicable industry standards and/or building codes
  • Complete all approved modifications or alterations of the building and/or its systems
  • Perform all preventative maintenance for the building, building systems, and equipment
  • Update and maintain all registered logs
  • Remain current with proper preventative maintenance techniques and procedures as practiced in the industry and/or as specified by the manufacturer in their literature and training sessions
  • Assist with sourcing all materials and parts according to the Purchasing Policy and ensuring efficient delivery and availability with least impact on operations
  • performing repairs and ensure area meets SAM Standards upon completion
  • Maintain clean and safe grounds and walkways
  • Keep all mechanical rooms and workshops clean and well-maintained
  • Other duties as assigned by the Association

Qualifications

  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • Up to of three (3) years of experience in building maintenance
  • Experience with building automation systems an asset
  • WHMIS Certification considered an asset
  • Certified Pool Operator considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of facilities maintenance and record keeping
  • Solid knowledge of appropriate health and safety standards and regulations
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
