VF Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the morning shift at the distribution center in Canada. The role involves maintaining automated sorting equipment, conveyors, and building MEP systems, while reading blueprints and performing installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

Maintenance Technician - Morning Shift (1 position)

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Leader, this person will perform a variety of general, detailed, and highly technical maintenance and service functions on equipment, systems, and facilities at the distribution center.

Key Responsibilities

Responds to all aspects of maintenance and building service for the Distribution facility. They are required to support with all preventative maintenance and repairs to automated sorting equipment, conveyors, material handling equipment and building MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems. They play a key role in helping the operations team optimize operational efficiencies by maximizing equipment uptime.

  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as fans, conveyors etc. according to layout plan using hand and power tools.
  • Operate lifting devices such jack to position machinery and parts during installation, set up and repair of machinery.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain pneumatic systems and programmable logic controls.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools.
  • Operate machine tools such as blade saw or grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set up machinery.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Work under the guidance and supervision of a certified electrician and diligently adhere to working protocols as indicated under the Canadian Electric Code (CEC).
  • Other duties as assigned.
How you will do it

Uses hand tools, power tools, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and other monitoring and testing equipment. Follows all company safety, attendance, and security procedures.

Successfully achieves goals of the facility. Perform daily activities of the maintenance team.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Years of related professional experience: 2+ years
  • High school diploma or equivalent and training certifications in electrical/ electronic control
  • Minimum of 3-5 years related maintenance experience in electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Must have the ability to climb and work at heights of up to 70 feet.
  • Must have the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as assigned.
  • Will be cross-trained and perform other general maintenance duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Hiring Range

$28.00 CAD - $35.00 CAD per hour

Incentive Potential

This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
