Job summary

Thrive Group Canada is looking for a casual Maintenance Technician/Driver to join our team. This role involves safely transporting residents and performing routine maintenance and repairs to ensure clean, safe, comfortable environments for clients and staff.

Evening and weekend work is required. Reporting to the Senior Director, you will handle maintenance tasks using hand and power tools, with a preference for prior maintenance experience and a valid F-class license.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation is essential.
  • Valid F-class Driver's license, three years driving experience, and a clean abstract are required.
  • Certification in a skilled trade, certified building operator or maintenance mechanic an asset.
  • Must be familiar with the OHSA, MTO Driver’s Handbook and have, or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks using hand tools and power equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport residents in agency vehicles and perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain equipment, building components, furnishings and fixtures; perform preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Provide clean, safe, comfortable, and functional environments for customers and staff.
  • Evening and weekend work is required.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director, this position is responsible for safely transporting residents and clients in agency owned vehicle and for performing routine daily maintenance and repairs and mechanical systems, parking lots, outdoor common areas and grounds in order to provide clean, safe, comfortable and functional environments for customers and staff. The position will maintain equipment, building components, furnishings and fixtures and perform preventative maintenance as necessary. This position involves evening and weekend work.

Employment Guide:
  • High school graduation is essential for this position.
  • A valid “F” class Driver’s license, proof of three years’ driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract are requirements for this position.
  • Certification in a skilled trade, certified building operator or maintenance mechanic an asset.
  • Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, MTO Driver’s Handbook and have, or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks using hand tools and power equipment.
  • Previous experience of maintenance work would be an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, problem solve and work independently and as part of a multi-service delivery team.
  • Must be able to relate well with people, particularly seniors and people with disabilities and have a passion for excellence in customer service.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work for extended periods in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and up to 100lbs assisted.
  • This position is required to work evenings and weekends.

Pay Range:

$19.35 - $24.17 per hour

*compensation set in accordance with experience and qualifications
