Job Summary:
Reporting to the Building Operator, work as part of our Maintenance team to ensure the facilities and grounds of our properties are well maintained, and all projects and paperwork are up to date and organized. Some “on call” emergency coverage is required.
Key Outcomes:
- Ensure safe and well-maintained building systems and grounds, promoting resident safety and comfort
- Maintain compliance with regulations and policies, contributing to a secure and regulated environment
- Efficiently troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues, minimizing disruptions for residents
- Conduct thorough inspections and preventative maintenance, ensuring the longevity and functionality of building systems
- Provide timely responses to service requests, tracking progress accurately for efficient maintenance operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly, efficient, and safe customer service to residents
- Perform maintenance on common areas, building systems, and grounds as needed
- Respond to service requests promptly, tracking progress in Yardi
- Monitor building and grounds condition and safety
- Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical and life safety systems and equipment
- Perform routine inspections on building systems and individual suites
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and organizational policies
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor maintenance issues
- Conduct inspections on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Conduct routine plumbing and electrical repairs
- Maintain fire alarms and extinguishers
- Supervise contracted maintenance work
- Assemble furniture, hang pictures, and make repairs, paint interior and exterior walls
- Perform emergency maintenance as needed, including after hours
- Communicate with all levels of our community. Maintains professionalism and enhances resident experience

Physical Job Requirements:
This position requires the Maintenance Technician to be able to:
- Must stand for extended periods
- Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather
- Require to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces
- Physical stamina to carry out daily rounds and conduct maintenance tasks across large building facilities
- Ability to handle heavy or bulky equipment and tools during maintenance and repairs
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions (e.g., mechanical rooms, outdoor tasks, and maintenance areas)
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, including responding to on-call duties as required
Qualifications:
- Must possess good written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer focus skills
- Basic computer proficiency and experience required
- Current (within 6 months) Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- 3 doses of COVID-19 and the Current (within 1 year) influenza vaccination record
- Minimum 3 years’ building maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
- High school diploma or GED or Post secondary education is preferred
- Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of public buildings
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
This position is a 6 month contract starting on July 1st - December 31st, 2025.
