Job summary

HERD North America Inc. in Winnipeg is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support production equipment and the facility.

The role emphasizes mechanical troubleshooting, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and maintenance on robotic/automated equipment. The candidate will perform preventative maintenance, read schematics, and assist with electrical issues, contributing to safety and efficiency on a Monday–Friday 3:30PM–11:30PM shift at 2168 Springfield Road.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with robotic or automated equipment is an asset.
• Basic electrical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot common electrical issues.
• PLC knowledge or experience is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong sense of urgency in responding to breakdowns and production needs.
• Organize and prioritize daily tasks with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot and maintain robotic and automated production equipment.
• Perform facility maintenance and general repairs as required.
• Read, lubricate, inspect, and maintain production equipment.
• Conduct safety inspections and equipment checks to identify hazards.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
• Assist with troubleshooting basic electrical and control-system issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, safety, and production efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate issues and repairs to team.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance requests.
• Follow all safety policies and regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized maintenance area.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, a hands‑on approach to equipment maintenance, and the ability to identify and resolve issues with minimal supervision. This role is critical to keeping our production equipment and facility operating safely and efficiently.

Position: Maintenance Technician
Location: 2168 Springfield Road (no bus routes)
Shift: Full-time, Monday – Friday 3:30PM - 11:30PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems with minimal supervision.

• Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems.

• Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules to minimize equipment downtime.

• Troubleshoot and maintain robotic and automated production equipment.

• Perform facility maintenance and general repairs as required.

• Clean, lubricate, inspect, and perform routine maintenance on production equipment.

• Conduct safety inspections and equipment checks to identify potential hazards or maintenance concerns.

• Read and interpret technical manuals, equipment documentation, schematics, and mechanical drawings.

• Assist with troubleshooting basic electrical and control‑system issues.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, safety, and production efficiency.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment issues and completed repairs to the appropriate team members.

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance requests.

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area and work environment.

Qualifications:

• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills involving mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

• Experience repairing and maintaining robotic or automated equipment is an asset.

• PLC knowledge or experience is an asset.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
