The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role works closely with Production, Engineering, HSE, and other departments to troubleshoot equipment issues, minimize downtime, and maintain equipment in good working condition.

The Maintenance Technician will perform hands‑on mechanical and technical work, support continuous improvement initiatives, assist with equipment installations and modifications, and help maintain effective preventative maintenance practices. The successful candidate will be a versatile, self‑directed problem solver with the ability to diagnose and repair a variety of industrial equipment and systems.

What You Will Be Doing

Here’s an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:

  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to organizational safety standards and procedures.
  • Perform preventative, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on production equipment, machinery, utilities, and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment‑related issues to identify root causes and restore equipment to safe operating condition.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance needs in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment regularly to identify potential problems and recommend corrective actions before failures occur.
  • Complete maintenance work orders, document repairs, record parts and materials used, and maintain accurate maintenance records in SAP.
  • Utilize the Plant Maintenance module in SAP as required to review, update, and complete maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of preventative maintenance procedures, work instructions, and equipment maintenance standards.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, modification, relocation, and start‑up of machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Work with internal teams, contractors, OEMs, and service providers on equipment repairs, maintenance activities, and technical projects.
  • Assist with capital projects and equipment improvements by providing hands‑on technical support, troubleshooting, equipment installation, and commissioning assistance.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, technical documentation, and other information necessary to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within the scope of training, experience, and applicable regulations, including working with motors, sensors, controls, and related equipment.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and other basic shop work as required to maintain or modify equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of commonly used maintenance parts, tools, and supplies and communicate replenishment needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with contractor activities and ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with company requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, productivity, quality, and maintainability.
  • Participate in LEAN, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), 5S, and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Train and share technical knowledge with other employees as appropriate to support safe and effective equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Support emergency response activities and follow established procedures for responding to equipment, facility, or other workplace emergencies.

What We're Looking For

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

Education, Licenses, & Certifications:
  • Relevant technical education, apprenticeship, trade training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Legally authorized to work in the country in which they’ve applied.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of related maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Experience with equipment installation, repair, modification, or project‑based maintenance work.
  • Experience working safely around industrial machinery, electrical systems, and other workplace hazards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, including preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment‑related problems.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and components, including motors, sensors, switches, controls, and related equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Technically savvy with the ability to use computers and maintenance management systems, including SAP.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and maintenance‑related equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to weld and perform basic fabrication and repair work.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple maintenance priorities, and respond effectively to unexpected equipment failures.
  • Logical thinker with strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting strategies.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Other Valued Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Industrial electrical experience or electrical trade training.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, sensors, and industrial control systems.
  • Experience with CNC equipment, machine tools, or other industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or 5S.
  • Experience working with OEMs and outside maintenance contractors.
  • Experience in training or mentoring other employees.
Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility: Ability to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, including standing, walking, bending, crouching, climbing stairs/ladders, and moving around machinery and workareas as required.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment controls, computers, and maintenance‑related devices; sufficient vision and hearing to inspect equipment, read technical information, and communicate safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull tools, parts, materials, and equipment components, with assistance or mechanical aids when required.
  • Environmental Factors: Ability to work in a manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, dust, heat, fumes, and other shop‑floor conditions while following required safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
