Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience in general building maintenance, basic repairs, and building systems operations.
  • Hands-on experience performing residential repair work.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of common areas (entrances, walkways, facilities).
  • Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Perform basic repairs in residential units (sinks, showers, lighting, locks).
  • Perform preventive maintenance (HVAC filter changes).
  • Coordinate with contractors and access property sites as needed.
  • Oversee third‑party contractors to ensure contract compliance.
  • Complete regular utility meter readings.

This position is for a Maintenance Technician based in Toronto

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of a portfolio of retail and residential properties across Toronto. This hands‑on role is responsible for ensuring the properties are maintained to the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency. The position involves frequent travel between properties and requires the ability to walk significant distances daily.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all common areas, including entrances, walkways, and facilities (e.g., snow removal, window cleaning, vacuuming, graffiti removal, floor cleaning, and waste disposal).
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings and equipment and report maintenance requirements or repair needs to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks in residential units, including sink and shower repairs, breaker resets, light fixture replacements, and lock changes.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities, including HVAC filter replacements.
  • Ensure contracted property services meet performance standards and contribute to a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment.
  • Use the building management system (Angus Anywhere) to respond promptly to tenant work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of vacant units and report any unusual conditions.
  • Assist with providing contractor access to properties and coordinate site tours as required.
  • Maintain inventory levels of tools, equipment, and supplies and provide recommendations to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Oversee third‑party contractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with contractual requirements and purchase orders.
  • Complete regular utility meter readings.
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training is preferred.
  • Experience in general building maintenance, basic repairs, and building systems operations.
  • Hands‑on experience performing residential repair work.
  • Experience working with and/or supervising contractors is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Angus Anywhere or similar building management systems is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety procedures (e.g., WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, and mould remediation) is an asset.
  • Flexible availability, including participation in an on‑call rotation.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 18kg (40lbs).
  • Strong customer service orientation and a commitment to maintaining high property standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a respectful and supportive workplace culture.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
