The Maintenance Technician, will primarily be responsible for general maintenance and repair of welding equipment and machinery in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Job Duties
- Maintain welding equipment and related machinery including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic.
- Test, repair, calibrate and install electrical instruments and electrically operate measuring and recording devices.
- Repair buildings, machinery and equipment.
- Analyses, installs, maintains and repairs breakdowns of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain records and work performed.
- Recommends necessary supplies and equipment for maintenance operations for a facility to the Manufacturing Engineer.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as cranes, welders, air pressure, tools, heating and cooling systems, etc… and troubleshoot.
- Ensures the preventative maintenance schedule for equipment is maintained and participates in discussions and planning to provide suggestions on capital expenditures relating to equipment necessary to improve operations at the plant.
- Prepares appropriate operating standards and/or maintenance procedures for all equipment and processes.
- Maintain cleanliness of maintenance equipment area.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of maintenance supplies.
- Establish and maintain communication with appropriate equipment vendors and suppliers.
- Assists where possible in general building and grounds maintenance activities
- Work as a welder/machine operator or as needed on the production floor during peak season.
- Keep accurate records of purchases and maintain tools, equipment and spare parts.
- Assist contract staff in the annual testing of the building fire alarm system.
- Perform related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of production equipment maintenance experience.
- Mechanical Certification
- Able to prioritize activities with pressing deadlines and to effectively time manage job requirements and demands.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge.
- Ability to understand blueprints, diagrams, and ladder logic programs.
- Experience with software interface tools / PLC, CNC.
- Proficient in using hand, power, shop and diagnostic tools.
- Trade or Technical school certification preferred.
- Able to read tape measure is a must (using imperial)
- Able to read and interpret blueprints
- Transferable CWB welding ticket is an asset
Work Conditions
- Available for overtime as required
- Frequent movement (lifting up to 60lbs), carrying, bending, turning and pulling)
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment as per company standards (safety glasses, gloves and steel-toed CSA certified boots)
