Job summary

Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities in Spruce Grove, AB, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Parkland Village’s day-to-day operation. You will work on homes, community buildings, roads, and utilities, taking ownership of tasks and ensuring safety and high standards for residents.

The role involves landscaping, pool testing, winter maintenance, and responding to issues across the community. Requires 2+ years of maintenance experience and a valid G-class license; hours can include weekends

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of related general maintenance experience; hotel/campground experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater systems; Water Operator Certification is an asset.
  • Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, days, nights, and emergency calls.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with smartphones/tablets and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Role Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician plays an important role in the day-to-day operation and upkeep of Parkland Village, a residential community of approximately 2,500 residents in Spruce Grove, Alberta that operates with the scope and complexity of a small town. Working as part of the maintenance team, this position supports a wide range of community infrastructure, including residential homes, community buildings, roads, signage, landscaping, and water and wastewater systems. No two days are the same. The work can include landscaping and grounds maintenance, building and home repairs, road and pothole repairs, water and wastewater work, equipment operation, seasonal maintenance, and responding to unexpected issues throughout the community. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable taking ownership of tasks from start to finish. The work is highly visible and has a direct impact on the safety, appearance, and everyday experience of Parkland Village residents.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain gardens and landscaped areas during the summer months.
  • Conduct regular swimming pool testing during the summer.
  • Perform workshop upkeep and preventative maintenance during the winter season.
  • Complete grounds maintenance, including light snow removal as required.
  • Assist with property improvements and special projects, as needed.
  • Carry out grounds maintenance and landscaping across the property.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on all community buildings and equipment.
  • Manage and maintain records related to septic system upkeep.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Community Manager.
  • Maintain and clean work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Promote a safe working environment for staff, residents, vendors, and visitors.
  • Ensure Health & Safety requirements for the communities are consistently met.
  • Be available for after‑hours calls and respond to emergencies, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold Parkbridge and QuadReal’s mission, vision, and values, serving as a brand and cultural ambassador to residents, co‑workers, vendors, and the public.
  • Professionally and courteously handle all inquiries, feedback, complaints, or concerns.
  • Interact with residents in a diplomatic, respectful, and solution‑oriented manner.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of related general maintenance experience; experience working in the hotel or campground industry is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater systems and related issues; Water Operator Certification is considered an asset.
  • Valid G‑class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, days, nights, and emergency call‑ins as required.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, contractors, the public, and residents.
  • Familiarity with smartphone and tablet technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $50,000-$55,000.

Based on the position, QuadReal offers a competitive total rewards package in addition to the base pay, which may include a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, pension plan, and paid time off. The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
