Job summary

ISS Facility Services - North America is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the safe operation of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. You will perform corrective and preventive maintenance, respond to service requests, and oversee contractor work while keeping stakeholders updated.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 1 year in facility maintenance, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with CMMS.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of facility maintenance or trade-related experience.
• Strong handyman and general maintenance skillset.
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Operational understanding of elevators, vertical lifts, overhead doors, and escalators.
• Experienced in LOTO safety lockout practices and safe maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support safe and reliable operation of building systems including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing.
• Deliver corrective maintenance solutions and preventive maintenance activities with inspections.
• Respond to service requests and resolve equipment breakdowns.
• Oversee onsite contractor activity and ensure safe, sufficient work; communicate with site stakeholders.
• Maintain CMMS records and ensure regulatory compliance.

Hourly Wage

ISS offers full-time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status.

The hourly pay range for this position is C$25. per hour - C$32. per hour.

Working Hours

The working hours for this Position are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Key Purpose

The Maintenance Technician supports the safe and reliable operation of all building systems. They provide support for HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems and infrastructure.

The role is responsible for delivering corrective maintenance solutions, while also performing preventive maintenance activities and scheduled inspections to ensure all building systems operate safely and within regulatory compliance.

This hands-on position responds to service requests and takes immediate action to resolve equipment breakdowns. This role ensures that all managed utilities and building systems meet operational specifications, documenting all actions taken.

This position oversees the work of contractors to ensure work is completed safely and sufficiently while keeping the building operator, site operations manager, business stakeholders, and end users updated. Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of facility maintenance or trade-related experience
• Strong handyman and general maintenance skillset
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Operational understanding of elevators, vertical lifts, overhead doors, and escalators
• Experienced in LOTO safety lockout practices and safe maintenance procedures

Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Functional knowledge of fire protection and life safety systems
• Ability to use hand tools and maintenance shop equipment safely
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks safely
• Familiarity with CMMS systems or the ability to learn

Certifications or Training

• Canadian Red Seal certification in one of the following areas: Appliance Service Technician, Carpenter, Drywall Finisher and Plasterer, Plumber, or Painter and Decorator.
• A certificate in facilities would be a plus

• Oversee onsite contractor activity, escalating needs when necessary
• Be willing to grow and develop skills to support ongoing business needs
• Maintain clean shops and general workspace, ensuring spaces are organized
• Perform other duties as assigned by management to support operations and business

• Must be able physically perform all operations and maintenance on site
• Must be physically able to wear required PPE while executing work
• Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 70 lbs.), climb ladders, work on foot for long periods, work in the cold, heat, and noisy environments.
