About the Role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of our maintenance department. You’ll ensure our fleet and equipment are maintained safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while driving continuous improvement throughout the operation.
We’re Looking For Someone With:
- Previous experience leading a maintenance team or supervising mechanics
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment, trucks, and industrial equipment
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- A team-first mentality
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proficiency with maintenance software and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of transportation, fleet, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills
- The ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
Key Responsibilities
Safety
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture where “Safety Starts with Me”
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and legislative safety requirements
- Participate in and lead toolbox talks
- Report and investigate incidents as required
- Complete required safety training and support safe work practices
Documentation
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, purchasing records, and supplier documentation
- Prepare purchase orders and requisitions
- Verify and approve daily mechanic work orders
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant
- Support continuous improvement through proper record management
Operations
- Lead, coach, mentor, and support mechanics and maintenance staff
- Develop and monitor preventive maintenance schedules
- Generate and assign work orders
- Inspect completed maintenance work for quality
- Approve mechanic labour hours daily
- Oversee shop operations, housekeeping, and safety
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new employees
- Work closely with vendors, contractors, and service providers
- Support maintenance budgeting and recommend equipment upgrades
- Oversee DOT compliance and preventative maintenance requirements
- Respond to maintenance emergencies when required
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, on time, and within budget
