Job summary

Bimbo Canada is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor (Night Shift) to lead millwrights and electricians in a unionized manufacturing setting. You will ensure safe, reliable equipment operation and drive maintenance planning, including Maximo work orders and staff development.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years in a similar role, trade certification or appropriate degree, and PLC/ERP familiarity. Competitive CAD salary with robust benefits awaits.

Qualifications

  • Trade certification as a Licensed Millwright or Licensed Electrician or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 3+ years as a maintenance supervisor in a unionized, highly automated manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in the food/beverage/packaged goods industry is an asset.
  • Proficiency with PLC troubleshooting and programming is an asset.
  • Strong communication, leadership and safety focus, with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise millwrights and electricians in a unionized plant, prioritizing safety.
  • Schedule work orders in Maximo and assess training and performance needs.
  • Develop, lead and maintain capable maintenance teams and drive reliability.
  • Maintain positive union relations and oversee capital projects as needed.
  • Ensure GMP, Food Safety and Health & Safety standards are followed.

Hiring Requirements:

The Maintenance Supervisor (Night Shift) will be responsible for the overall supervision of millwrights and electricians in a unionized manufacturing environment, ensuring associate safety is prioritized above all other activities. This role requires a proactive leader who can inspire performance, foster collaboration, and maintain a strong culture of safety and compliance (Life-Saving Rules). Success in this position demands exceptional communication skills, solid technical knowledge, and the ability to drive operational excellence through effective planning, organization, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the efficient operation of plant equipment and services, involving cost control, safety, and product quality.
  • Understand production requirements and day-to-day equipment operating issues by ensuring open and effective communications with all other departments (This may require you to work several production shifts).
  • Responsible for scheduling work orders in Maximo, assessing associate training needs and performance.
  • Develop, lead and maintain capable and effective associates in all areas of maintenance function.
  • Maintain a positive union and associate relations environment.
  • Continuously improve the preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and improve overall maintenance costs.
  • Oversee and direct plant projects that involve our own associates or outside contractors.
  • Resolve associate issues in compliance with the collective agreement.
  • Assist with the implementation of capital projects.
  • Plan and implement PM’s on equipment as required.
  • Adhere to GMP, Food Safety, and Health & Safety standards.

Experience & Education:
  • The ideal candidate musthave a trade certification as a Licensed Millwright or Licensed Electrician or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Preference for candidates with a post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3+ years as a maintenance supervisor in a unionized, highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in the food, beverage, or packaged goods industry is an asset.
  • Competence in PLC for troubleshooting and programming is an asset.
  • Consistently deliver measurable improvements in workplace safety by driving continuous compliance initiatives and fostering a culture of proactive risk mitigation.
  • Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting, or repairing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of work orders and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience with HACCP, Continuous Improvement Processes, Project Management and Lean manufacturing would be an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS and ERP systems.
  • Ability to develop and foster a problem-solving, results-driven team.
  • Able to learn continuously; adaptability and regulatory understanding are critical assets.

The annual salary range for applicants is: $90,000 - $100,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
