Qualifications

Job description

The Opportunity:

The Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Senior Maintenance Supervisor. Working closely with other team members, the Maintenance Supervisor strives to maximize facility uptime and daily production, while ensuring all facility equipment is properly maintained through appropriate maintenance tactics. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for leading tradespeople to achieve excellence in maintenance and world-class results.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  1. Manage, motivate, develop, and provide leadership to maintenance staff.
  2. Supervise repairs by maintenance staff and contractors.
  3. Evaluate work notifications, generate, and prioritize work orders.
  4. Assist with implementing capital projects.
  5. Ensure maintenance work is documented in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  6. Ensure timely completion of scheduled work orders.
  7. Review completed work orders for accuracy.
  8. Perform inspections of recently maintained equipment to assess quality and condition.
  9. Liaise with Engineering and Operations regarding equipment maintenance and availability.
  10. Guide Planner/Scheduler in work prioritization and job planning.
  11. Participate in production and KPI review meetings.
  12. Identify root causes of equipment failures and develop maintenance strategies to prevent recurrence.
  13. Ensure compliance with BRC and CFIA food safety requirements and address corrective actions promptly.
  14. Adhere to all applicable labor regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
  15. Engage actively in health and safety and food safety programs.
What You’ll Bring:
  • A passion for manufacturing environments.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
  • Knowledge of world-class maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma, RCM, and autonomous maintenance principles.
  • Electro-mechanical college diploma or relevant trades certification/experience.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance tactics.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required.
  • Proficiency with CMMS, preferably SAP-PM.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in food processing or manufacturing is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to manage resources effectively using KPIs and benchmarking.
  • Proven ability to identify reliability issues and implement improvements.
