Job summary

The Village of Riverside Glen, part of Schlegel Villages, is seeking a Maintenance team member to support a resident-centered culture and deliver high-quality maintenance services. The role covers a range of tasks across the Village, from plumbing and painting to electrical work and system upkeep.

Shifts run 0900–1700, with 75 hours biweekly. Candidates must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and TB screening prior to start. Competitive wage: $22.03 per hour per the collective agreement.

Qualifications

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) required
  • TB screening test required before starting
  • Ability to perform maintenance tasks and work safely in a residential setting

  • Perform a variety of maintenance activities across the Village to ensure a safe and comfortable home environment for residents and staff
  • Complete maintenance requests and routine scheduled work including plumbing, painting, floor repair, electrical and heating/cooling system maintenance

Shift Details:0900-1700, 75 hours biweekly

The hiring rate for this role is $22.03 per collective agreement/employee association agreement.

Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and a Tuberculosis (TB) screening test before starting.

As a new Maintenance Team Member joining our Village, you will:

Support and embrace our resident-centered culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of maintenance services to our residents. Our Maintenance Team Members perform a variety of maintenance activities across their Village to ensure a safe and comfortable home environment for residents, their families and your colleagues.

Maintenance Team Members complete maintenance requests [repairs] and routine scheduled work including plumbing, painting, floor repair and upkeep, electrical repairs and heating/cooling system maintenance.

To be successful as our new Maintenance Team Member, you will:

  • Be comfortable working a heights and with exposure to outside weather conditions and understand the physical expectations of maintenance work
  • Handle residents' personal items, Village supplies and equipment with care and respect
  • Respects the rights and dignity of all residents, families, team members and visitors to the Village and addresses any requests with professionalism and care

It would be an asset if our new Maintenance Team Member has:

  • An awareness and understanding of infection control practices, workplace hazardous materials and chemicals [WHMIS], as well as, all relevant health and safety procedures
  • An understanding of general maintenance and trades, such as, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical
  • The awareness and ability to operate equipment and machinery, such as, hot water heating systems, air exchange units, fire alarms, sprinkler systems and/or call systems
  • Skill in operating common hand and power tools
