Your Team

Join Flair’s Engineering team, where effective maintenance processes and procedures support safe, efficient, and compliant operations. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Maintenance Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for reviewing, developing, and improving maintenance processes, procedures, and task documentation. This role evaluates existing practices, identifies process gaps, and develops practical improvements in accordance with regulatory requirements, OEM guidance, and established quality standards.

Working closely with Maintenance and Quality, the Maintenance Process Improvement Specialist supports the standardization and continuous improvement of maintenance practices across the organization. The role ensures procedures and task documentation are clear, practical, and aligned with operational requirements while identifying opportunities to improve how maintenance activities are performed.

This is an on-site position based at our Calgary, AB (YYC) office.

A Day In The Life
  • Review, revise, and re-author maintenance task cards to ensure clarity, technical accuracy, operational efficiency, and full compliance with regulatory requirements, OEM guidance, and internal standards.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of controlled maintenance engineering processes to verify accuracy, ensure regulatory and OEM alignment, and identify opportunities for workflow optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Perform scheduled reviews of controlled maintenance engineering forms to confirm accuracy, usability, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, task documentation, and workflow efficiency, and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Support the standardization of maintenance procedures and controlled documentation across the department to promote consistency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Flight Operations, and other operational stakeholders to ensure process alignment and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Support Technical Services Engineers in the development, authoring, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance processes, procedures, and controlled documentation.
  • Assist with audit preparation and compliance reviews by ensuring maintenance process documentation is current, accurate, and readily available.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to communicate and implement approved process or documentation changes.
  • Track revisions and updates to maintenance processes and controlled documents to ensure proper version control and ongoing compliance.
  • Participate in initiatives related to maintenance documentation, process optimization, standardization, and compliance assurance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring To The Role

  • Education:
    • A valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence is required.
    • Post-secondary education in Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
    • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) or equivalent is an asset; PMP is not required at this level.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with large single-aisle commercial aircraft in a maintenance, engineering, or technical environment.
    • Experience reviewing, developing, revising, and controlling aircraft maintenance procedures and task documentation.
    • Experience identifying gaps or inefficiencies in maintenance processes and supporting the development and implementation of process improvements.
    • Experience working with engineering change processes, document control workflows, revision management, and controlled technical documentation.
    • Experience interpreting and applying OEM maintenance documentation, technical publications, and maintenance planning requirements.
    • Experience working with Boeing 737 aircraft is considered an asset.
    • Experience with MyBoeingFleet is considered an asset.
    • Experience with Swiss-AS AMOS is considered an asset.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong ability to review, develop, revise, and standardize maintenance procedures and task documentation in accordance with regulatory, OEM, and internal requirements.
    • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance processes, procedures, and technical documentation.
    • Knowledge of human factors principles and their application to maintenance procedures and task documentation.
    • Knowledge of MSG-3 methodology, Maintenance Planning Documents (MPD), and OEM maintenance planning requirements.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process gaps and develop practical improvements to maintenance processes and procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail when reviewing technical documentation, maintenance instructions, revisions, and controlled processes.
    • Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop clear and practical maintenance procedures and instructions for maintenance personnel.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word; experience with Adobe tools is considered an asset.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to review processes and implement improvements.
  • Requirements:
    • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
