Qualifications

About the role

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and scheduling of maintenance and limited production tasks, third-party services, contractors, and vendors involved in the maintenance, design, improvement, and repair of company equipment and facilities. The Maintenance Planner is critical to support the plant in delivering the operational KPIs and ensures application of food and employee safety in their daily routine.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly prioritization meetings to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Create work orders from work requests.
  • Distribute copies of applicable sketches, work orders, EHS documents, and work lists to supervision.
  • Track KPIs.
  • Assist with the development and execution of the maintenance planning process and strategies.
  • Support the identification and delivery of opportunities across the site to drive improvement.
  • Ensure the maintenance function delivers strong asset reliability in line with production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and modify the maintenance planning system as needed.
  • Coordinate activities with internal customers and external vendors to ensure parts and materials are available to support overall plant activities.
  • Develop PMs, MSS, CILs and improve processes.
  • Analyze and plan resources, materials, and outside services to complete requirements on a work order.
  • Schedule internal and external resources, materials, and services to satisfy work order requirements.
  • Develop work standards and job plans in collaboration with supervision.
  • Create and distribute daily/weekly schedules.
  • Ensure work orders are closed when completed.
  • Facilitate all maintenance planning and scheduling meetings.
  • Arrange availability of shared resources.
  • Stage materials for planned work.
  • Manage the department’s technical documentation and stores.
  • Identify and communicate appropriate safety precautions including risk assessments.
  • Ensure accuracy of the maintenance management system including equipment history, labor tracking, and parts.
  • Execute tasks as dictated by the role's checklist.
  • Establish necessary critical assessments and maintenance routines for new equipment.
  • Update work orders when parts are received.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Meet/exceed requirements for food and employee safety.

Environmental / Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to freely move around the entire facility.
  • Ability to work in and be exposed to heat.

About you

  • College Diploma/Engineering degree/Trade Certification; or two years+ 3 years related experience in plant maintenance/planning; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CMRP, MMP Designations are an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and employee engagement skills.
  • High level of regulatory technical expertise, continuous improvement, and maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • SAP knowledge is an asset.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Ambition and motivation to succeed and meet goals.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
