Job summary

Fairmont Banff Springs is seeking a Maintenance Person to ensure the safe, efficient operation of building systems and to support an exceptional guest experience in a luxury property.

Starting rate is $31.09 per hour based on experience, with an increase to $32.02 on September 1, 2026. The role includes maintaining mechanical, HVAC, and environmental systems, completing preventive maintenance, and working across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting trades.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a large commercial building or similar environment.
  • Experience in multiple trades (painting, plumbing, carpentry, general repairs).
  • HVAC knowledge and building operations expertise.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, and maintain building mechanical, HVAC, and environmental systems.
  • Perform routine inspections, rounds, and preventive maintenance with minimal guest disruption.
  • Respond to guest room and staff housing work orders promptly.
  • Carry out minor repairs across multiple trades and assist skilled trades as needed.
  • Keep CMMS records, manage inventory, and maintain safe workspaces and tools.

As a Maintenance Person at Fairmont Banff Springs, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems while supporting an exceptional guest experience. Your versatility, responsiveness, and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of a luxury property.

Starting Rate

$31.09 per hour based on experience & certifications, this rate increases to $32.02 on September 1st, 2026.

Job Duties Include
  • Monitor, operate, and maintain building mechanical, HVAC, and environmental systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance
  • Perform routine inspections, rounds, and preventive maintenance, identifying deficiencies and recommending improvements to support system reliability
  • Respond promptly to guest room, staff housing, and operational work orders, delivering timely solutions with minimal disruption to guest comfort
  • Complete minor repairs across multiple trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting) and support skilled trades with maintenance, installations, and projects
  • Maintain accurate records in CMMS (Transcendent), manage inventory levels, and ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces meet safety and operational standards
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hotel policies while collaborating with team members, supporting emergency response situations, and delivering professional service aligned with Fairmont standards
Your Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a large commercial building or similar environment
  • Experience in multiple trades, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs
  • Building Operator Certificate or Maintenance Technician certification is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building operations
  • Familiarity with CMMS, energy management, and building automation systems
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong focus on guest service and operational excellence
