Job summary

Metro Vancouver's Lulu Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Richmond is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic to support the mechanical department with strong troubleshooting and safe, independent work in a team. The role involves installing and aligning equipment, maintaining pumps and engines, servicing valves and piping, and mentoring junior mechanics while keeping CMMS up to date.

Candidates should have Grade 12 and a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Millwright cert, plus 4+ years' field experience; valid BC

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience in mechanical repair, maintenance and overhaul.
• Skilled in machine fitting, welding and pipefitting with precision measuring tools.
• Familiar with reading blueprints and operating large pumps and diesel/dual-fuel engines.
• Able to operate CMMS and predict maintenance activities; strong problem-solving.
• Effective communication, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Installs and aligns machinery and equipment to tolerances.
• Maintains, repairs and overhauls equipment including engines, pumps, compressors.
• Installs, maintains and services valves, meters, and piping.
• Trains and directs junior Mechanics.
• Maintains safety policies and WCB regulations.
• Works shift and may act for supervisor.
