Job summary

Comox Valley Regional District is seeking a Maintenance Operator for its wastewater facilities. You will maintain and repair CVWPCC, Biosolids Facility, LTP and landfill gas flare, including mechanical and electrical systems, conveyors and pumps.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, welding ability, safety focus and teamwork. It includes on-site duties, occasional after-hours coverage, and a wage of $46.68 per hour under CUPE Local 556.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of plant processes and equipment operation, maintenance and repair.
• Experience with wet/dry pit sewage pump stations is preferred.
• Commitment to safe work practices and ability to work in adverse conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair plant equipment, conveyors, pumps, piping and valves.
• Plan and perform preventative maintenance and larger maintenance activities.
• Do routine repairs on mobile equipment (loads, trucks, forklifts).
• Perform metal fabrication and welding as required.
• Maintain inventory of parts and lubricants.
• Assist with preventive maintenance systems and data recording.
• Coordinate with Senior Operators for startups/shutdowns and inspections.
• Provide coverage for sick/vacation absences as needed.
