Job summary

Equans in Ottawa is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to install, maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul and repair industrial machinery and equipment.

You will read blueprints, install and align machinery, inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and document findings. The role requires five years in an industrial setting, strong troubleshooting and safety awareness. French is an asset. This on-site position offers exposure to varied conditions and a competitive hourly pay rate.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in an industrial environment.
• Ability to pass background checks and security screenings.
• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Motivated self-starter.
• Physically capable of carrying out all aspects of tasks.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
• Planning and organizing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• French language considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Operate power tools, pipe threaders, hand tools etc.
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance.
• Assemble machinery and equipment.
• Apply mechanical repair principles and procedures.
• Recommend equipment changes and modifications and evaluate new equipment.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs.
• Building systems maintenance.
• Maintain work area in a neat condition.
• Monitor subcontractor work.
• Provide written reports.
• Analyze equipment breakdowns and propose corrective solutions.
• Follow safety and company policies.
• Other duties as required.
