Job summary

Equans is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Ottawa to install, maintain and repair industrial machinery and equipment. You will read diagrams and blueprints, operate hoists, inspect machinery, and perform preventive maintenance across building systems and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The role requires five years in an industrial setting, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Fluency in English is expected; French is an asset.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Five (5) years of experience in an industrial environment.
• Ability to pass background checks and security screenings.
• Physically capable of performing all tasks.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• French language considered an asset.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Operate power tools, pipe threaders, hand tools etc.
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance.
• Assemble machinery and equipment.
• Apply mechanical repair principles and procedures.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs.
• Building systems maintenance.
• Maintain work area in a neat condition.
• Monitor subcontractor work.
• Provide written reports.
• Analyze equipment breakdowns and propose corrective solutions.
