Job summary

Kluane Drilling Ltd. in Whitehorse invites applications for a Maintenance Mechanic (NOC 72400). This permanent, full-time position offers 40 hours per week at $42.50 per hour, with health, dental and medical benefits.

Requirements include a college or university degree in mechanical engineering-related fields, English language proficiency, and a clean driving record. Five years of mechanic experience, hydraulic systems and diesel engines knowledge, and drill rig maintenance are strong assets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience in a field or shop environment.
• Experience with drill rig maintenance is an asset.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and diesel engines.
• Valid driver's license with 2 years driving and clean abstract.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and repair of engines, pumps, compressors and drilling equipment and control panels.
• Assemble mechanical components and equipment for fly and skid drill rigs.
• Assemble, install, troubleshoot, and maintain stationary industrial machinery, including safety devices drilling systems and related components.
• Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions.
• Conduct necessary repairs and testing of drills before returning them to the field.
• Supervise the mechanics team.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Perform routine maintenance work on machinery in workshop and at the project site.
• Operate machining tools to fabricate parts.
• Fine tune drills to optimize drill performance.

Experience:

• 5 years of experience as a mechanic in a field or shop environment. Experience with drill rig maintenance is considered a strong asset.

• Experience cutting and crimping hydraulic hoses.
• A valid driver's license with 2 years experience driving and clean driver's abstract.
