Job summary

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope is seeking a Maintenance Millwright in Canada to support a designated shift. The role includes inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting plant equipment and process instruments, and performing general building maintenance to meet safety and production goals.

You will install and repair production machines, troubleshoot instrumentation, perform emergency repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance while applying mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Red Seal experience is a definite asset but not required.
  • Experience using PLCs is an asset.
  • Experience with MIG and Stick welding.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with staff and management.
  • Ability to handle shifting and multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to motivate others.
  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Creative problem‑solving ability.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication.
  • Basic computer familiarity.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in both hot and cold environments.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
  • Willingness to attend after‑hour calls and weekends as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production machines and plant facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot plant instrumentation and process equipment.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment and perform scheduled maintenance during machine service.
  • Execute basic machinist duties and minor equipment fabrication.
  • Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and troubleshooting skills to repair production machines.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test and adjust equipment.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Apply basic PLC troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
  • Coordinate with site‑wide building maintenance for construction, renovation, or updates.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and check all electrical alarms on the plant.
  • Advise management on potential hazards with equipment operation.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, scissor lifts, booms, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role provides maintenance support for an assigned shift. The Maintenance Millwright will perform inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of plant equipment and process instruments, as well as general building and property maintenance. Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment in accordance with safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the site’s business goals.

Position Pay Range: $17 CAD – $42.50 CAD.
