Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. He or she is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, etc. He or she is responsible for examining mechanical equipment to diagnose problems, disassemble machines, and repair or replace broken parts. Preventive maintenance duties will also be a regular occurrence. All duties are expected to be carried out responsibly within company safety policies.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Check, report, and repair any equipment failures
• Set up and repair product handling equipment
• Perform vacuum repairs
• Troubleshoot equipment to component level
• Install equipment and auxiliary equipment as required
• Repair component failures (e.g., hydraulic pumps, valves, pneumatic valves)
• Repair tool room equipment
• Disassemble and refurbish/rebuild equipment
• Maintain housekeeping in the plant interior and exterior
• Manage procedural plant shut-downs and start-ups
• Operate new equipment as required
• Update and maintain logs for all new equipment
• Maintain files for equipment

Qualifications:

• Experience as a Millwright
• Ability to read hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematics
• Fabrication skills (Lathe & Mill) are an asset
• Training in working at heights and using elevated work platforms is an asset
• Forklift (Tow Motor) training and experience are assets
• Experience in a glass manufacturing facility is an asset
• 3 to 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work within a team-oriented environment
