Job summary

Golden Life is seeking a Maintenance Manager for Evanston Grand Village in Calgary, AB. This full-time temporary role will oversee maintenance operations, safety, and resident services, ending after one year.

You will plan, coordinate, and monitor the department while leading a team, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with building systems and health standards. A post-secondary diploma in Building Systems and related certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in Building Systems or related field required.
• Health and Safety Certification (Levels 1 and 2) required.
• 5th Class Power Engineering required.
• Strong knowledge of building management systems, electrical distribution, fire alarm/sprinkler systems, emergency generators and related testing.
• Metasys and CMMS experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
• BC TB test and up-to-date immunizations are expected.

Responsibilities

• Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring maintenance operations.

• Performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and safety checks.
• Managing outside contractors for specialized work (electrical/plumbing).
• Leading recruitment, orientation, and performance management for the team.
• Monitoring expenditures and reporting variances with leadership.
• Performing other duties and managing an assigned team as needed.

Shift Schedule: Day (Evenings and Weekends as needed)

What You’ll Do

• Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring the effectiveness of all operational activities within the maintenance department.
• Planning, organizing and overseeing the department to ensure priorities are met.
• Performing general and routine maintenance, minor repairs, fire safety, and scheduled servicing operations to maintain the site in a safe manner.
• Determining scope of work, receiving cost estimates and referring problems requiring specialized work such as electrical or plumbing to outside contractors and monitors work performed.
• Leading an effective recruitment, orientation, and performance management process in accordance with the organization standards for all team members within the department.
• Managing and monitoring all expenditures, explains monthly variances and works with the Executive Director/General Manager to identify corrective action.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
• May be required to manage an assigned team.

What You Bring

• Relevant post‑secondary diploma in Building Systems or a related field.
• Health and Safety Certification (Levels 1 and 2) required.
• 5th Class Power Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of computerized building management systems, electrical distribution, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, emergency generator operations, and related testing requirements.
• Metasys and CMMS experience.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and technical drawings.
• WHMIS training is an asset.
• Experience in a care community or retirement residence is preferred.
• A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• A negative TB test and up‑to‑date immunization record.
