Job Description

IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. is a manufacturer of quality commercial and residential roofing products and part of the IKO Group of Companies. We presently have a full-time opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to join our team based in Brampton, Ontario.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining all process equipment throughout the plant and supervising and supporting teams to develop continuous improvement and safety performance programs.

When You Join Us, You Will:

  1. Establish a high level of safety, health, & environmental compliance through communication, monitoring, training, and setting of performance standards.
  2. Establish a positive employee and labour relations climate by conducting and participating in activities that contribute to an effective working relationship with both union and non-union employees.
  3. Continually evaluate employee skills and training requirements to improve work quality and safety.
  4. Facilitate crew safety talks and training sessions.
  5. Drive accountability for both results and actions of direct reports through education, motivation, documentation, and behaviour-based coaching.
  6. Facilitate root cause analyses (5 why, fishbone etc.) with maintenance, production, and engineering.
  7. Supervise salaried and unionized maintenance employees.
  8. Schedule outside vendors and contractors for work requirements.
  9. Liaise with external authorities (i.e. TSSA) and ensure compliance for pressure vessels (boilers, compressors etc.).
  10. Prepare recommendations for major repair, replacement, upgrade, and new processes.
  11. Ensure proper documentation and complete reports (Standard Operating Procedures, checklists, audits, work orders, spreadsheets, metrics, incident investigations etc.).
  12. Coordinate weekly downtime, plant shut-downs, and winter preparedness with the production group.
  13. Manage spare parts inventory and storage areas.
  14. Manage the site maintenance budget.
  15. Work with the corporate reliability group to develop the site preventive maintenance program.
  16. Coordinate environmental compliance program requirements.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  1. Proven ability to build inter-departmental relationships, lead change, and continuously improve the performance of the team.
  2. 10+ years of experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  3. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
  4. Experience in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
  5. Working knowledge and experience with CMMS.
  6. Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems; boiler systems; heat transfer and exchange systems; and industrial automation.
  7. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  8. Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Maximo.
  9. Proficiency with MS Project and AutoCAD an asset.
  10. Strong maintenance knowledge including reliability concepts, processes, and methodologies.
  11. Work schedule: Days, Monday through Friday. The role is on-call 24/7 and will periodically require weekend work.
