Job summary

Lactalis Canada in Mitchell, Ontario, is offering a Maintenance Intern position in our dairy manufacturing plant. You will assist in planning, design and implementation of process improvements under experienced supervision.

Work with leadership, document projects, train staff, and help optimize preventive maintenance. Ideal for engineering students who want hands-on experience using CAD tools in a fast-paced production setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering program (e.g., industrial, mechanical, chemical, or food engineering).
• Enjoys solving problems and making logical decisions.
• Proficiency in CAD and technical engineering tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Identify gaps to improve the operation of equipment.
• Collaborate with leadership and multi-functional teams to optimize procedures.
• Document projects, procedures or lessons from projects.
• Train staff on new processes to sustain improvements.
• Track progress and report updates to the manager.
• Create PM plans and update SAP BOMs to optimize maintenance.
• Work with SAP to implement new work management systems.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance with the team.
• Assist on general maintenance projects and update engineering drawings.
• Participate in installation of new equipment.

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Intern will be responsible for supporting various maintenance activities within our organization, under the supervision of experienced team members. This includes participating in the planning, design and implementation of various process and continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing plant environment.

Responsibility

• Identify gaps to improve the operation of equipment.
• Work closely with leadership team, multi functional teams or members of other departments to help in optimizing processing procedures
• Responsible to document project, procedures or one point lessons generated from the project
• Communicate and train processes or procedures to hourly or salary personnel as required to sustain new implementations or improvements
• Track progress adequately of the required actions and provide updates and feedback to manager.
• Creating PM plans, updating BOM’s in SAP in order to optimize preventative maintenance program in a critical line or equipment
• Work with SAP to optimize or implement new work management systems such as the notification system.
• Work with maintenance team to troubleshoot problems and perform preventive maintenance
• Assisting on general maintenance projects
• Update engineering drawings and labels
• Participate in the installation of new equipment

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering program (e.g., industrial, mechanical, chemical, or food engineering)
• Enjoys solving problems and making logical decisions
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context
• Proficiency in computer-aided design software (CAD) and technical engineering tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively within a team
• Motivated to learn and open to meeting new challenges
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively

Compensation

As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is: $26 – $28.

Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
