Job summary

Lactalis Canada in Belleville, Ontario, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our manufacturing plant. You will lead day‑to‑day maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and drive safety and continuous improvement to meet production targets.

You will collaborate with Production, Maintenance and Engineering, manage budgets in SAP/CMMS, and ensure GMP/compliance. A college diploma or university degree and 5+ years of supervisory experience are required, with strong leadership and team‑building skills.

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree or equivalent trade certification.
• Five (5) or more years supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Three (3) years related experience in the Electrical & Controls and/or Mechanical field; experience with maintenance budgets.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and follow‑up of maintenance activities to optimize plant performance.
• Provide leadership to improve health & safety performance and ensure compliance with safety program elements.
• Lead staff with work direction, performance feedback, and training recommendations; maintain positive labor‑management relations.
• Monitor contractor adherence to procedures and regulatory requirements, including GMP.
• Drive cost improvements and timely corrective actions; implement maintenance and preventive programs.
• Act as liaison between Production, Maintenance, & Engineering to allocate resources and secure approvals as per policy.
• Assist with department budget by monitoring expenditures and using SAP/CMMS for cost tracking.

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for providing maintenance direction and promoting excellence in all maintenance activities provided in the manufacturing plant of complex operation/and or large volume. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day‑to‑day maintenance activities, including timely troubleshooting, root cause analysis and correcting performance issues. The position is responsible for ensuring a safe operation, key targets and results are achieved, and effective leadership of work teams while identifying and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibility

• Coordinate planning, priority setting and follow‑up of maintenance activities to facilitate optimum plant performance, including scheduling of maintenance personnel and contractors. Work with Production Supervisors, Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Buyer to optimize maintenance resources utilization.
• Provide leadership to improve health & safety performance by being a role model in safety and demonstrating due diligence through applying the corporate health & safety program elements. These focus on incident prevention through hazard identification, implementing necessary controls, training, education, and audits. Where necessary, take corrective action to address unsafe situations and employee behaviours, uphold Parmalat’s cardinal and other safety rules and procedures, and communicate with appropriate resources to address any hazardous conditions or unsafe employee conduct.
• Provide leadership and supervision to staff by providing work direction, performance feedback, and recommendations for training and development. Promote a positive labour‑management relationship and ensure compliance with the Company’s corporate and legal obligations under the Collective Agreement (where applicable), as well as various statutes and regulations such as the Employment Standards Act, Workers Compensation Act, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Monitor and ensure contractors adhere to facility procedures and achieve contractual requirements, including equipment installations, modifications and maintenance. Ensure that all relevant activities are conducted in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, GMP requirements. business standards
• Ensure superior operating performance through identifying opportunities and implementing improvements in costs, and plant operations; troubleshooting production equipment performance issues, and provide effective and timely corrective action; ensuring effective implementation of maintenance and preventive maintenance programs and schedules; and coordinating unplanned equipment breakage repair, including manpower, material and time requirements and follow‑up to ensure work is completed as per standards.
• Act as liaison between the Production, Maintenance, & Engineering teams to ensure resources are effectively utilized, issues resolved on a timely basis, and that the responsible managers are consulted/updated on appropriate activities and that required approvals are obtained for as per Plant Purchasing and Process Change policies.
• Assist with department budget by monitoring expenditures versus plan, and set up costs in SAP or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree or equivalent trade certification
• Five (5) or more years supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Three (3) years related experience in the Electrical & Controls and/or Mechanical field
• Experience in implementing preventative maintenance systems and managing maintenance budgets in accordance with an established operating plan.
• Strong understanding of process systems particularly in relation to dairy or food manufacturing facilities.
• Strong knowledge of process systems, high‑speed packaging, and food plant experience.
• Proven leadership, troubleshooting, and team building skills, ability to lead and supervise skilled trades group.
• SAP or CMMS (Maximo) maintenance system skills and experience, including work plans, work orders, equipment BOM’s
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office products, as well as database and management systems and UKG or similar time‑keeping software

Compensation

As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is:$78,600.00–$98,300.00 . Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
