Holiday Inn and Suites Vancouver Downtown is seeking a Maintenance Helper to keep our hotel facilities running smoothly. You will assist with a wide range of maintenance tasks, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry work, while delivering friendly service to guests and staff.

This paid position offers hands-on learning with PLCs, CMMS, and preventive maintenance activities, and opportunities to grow with an experienced team committed to safety and excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance preferred but not required.
• Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read schematics.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with building systems.
• Strong English communication for reporting and teamwork.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance and repairs across hotel facilities.
• Support troubleshooting and repair using schematics and manuals.
• Operate PLCs and other control systems to maintain building operations.
• Use CMMS to log work orders, schedule preventive maintenance.
• Perform welding and basic fabrication as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with team to prioritize requests and complete tasks.
• Assist inspecting facilities for issues in electrical, HVAC, and structural components.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Assist with routine maintenance and repairs across hotel facilities, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks
• Support the troubleshooting and repair of equipment using schematics and technical manuals
• Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other control systems to maintain building operations
• Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to log work orders, track maintenance activities, and schedule preventive maintenance
• Perform welding and basic fabrication tasks as needed to repair or modify equipment and fixtures
• Follow safety protocols during all maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize maintenance requests and ensure timely completion of tasks
• Assist in inspecting facilities for potential issues, including electrical systems, HVAC units, and structural components
• Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to guest or staff maintenance requests with professionalism and courtesy

Qualifications

• Prior experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
• Basic electrical knowledge and familiarity with schematics are highly desirable
• Mechanical aptitude with understanding of manufacturing or building systems
• Strong communication skills in English for clear reporting and teamwork
• Demonstrated leadership or supervising experience is beneficial for supporting team coordination
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to electrical work, welding, and general facilities maintenance
