The Maintenance Foreman you’ll work alongside a tight-knit team that values teamwork, learning, and a job well done. You will report to the Maintenance Field Manager and whether you’re mowing pristine lawns, tending to vibrant gardens, or ensuring every detail shines, you’ll be surrounded by teammates who share your dedication to excellence and love for the outdoors. As a liaison between the field team and management, the Maintenance Foreman assists the maintenance management team in the execution of divisional directives.

What will you do around here?

Lead and Execute Projects:
  • Plan, schedule, and delegate tasks to keep jobs running smoothly and on time in collaboration with the Field Manager.
Coach and Support Your Crew:
  • Provide hands-on leadership and coaching to your team with guidance from the Field Manager and Director.
  • Tackle challenges head-on, including problem-solving, resolving disputes, and handling incident reporting.
Keep Equipment Running Smoothly:
  • Perform regular equipment inspections before use.
  • Carry out weekly maintenance and small in-field repairs for tools and mowers.
  • Communicate any equipment deficiencies to management to ensure peak performance.
Sharpen Your Skills and Your Team’s:
  • Complete training in leadership, plant identification, and watering/fertilization management.
  • Share your knowledge to elevate the team’s expertise.
Drive Safely and Confidently:
  • Operate a loaded truck and trailer efficiently.
Represent the Company with Pride:
  • Wear the uniform with professionalism and maintain a polished, approachable appearance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while staying courteous and respectful to the public.
Champion Safety Every Day:
  • Participate in regular safety meetings (toolbox talks) and use proper personal protective equipment to keep yourself and your crew safe.
Stay Organized and On Top of Paperwork:
  • Accurately complete daily truck and trailer checklists, weekly equipment inspections, site reports, timecards for you and your crew, and weekly toolbox talks documentation.

Education and Certifications:
  • Completion of secondary school (an asset). Post-secondary education in horticulture (an asset).
  • Industry certifications like Red Seal, Certified Landscape Technician, or Pesticide Applicator Certificate (an asset).
  • Safety certifications, such as OFA 1 and Fall Protection, are an added bonus.
  • A clean and valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
Your Experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience in the landscaping industry or equivalent education.
  • Proven experience leading and supervising a team.
  • Familiarity with outdoor, physically demanding work environments.

Physical Requirements

This position is 100% labour and as such, individuals must be in good physical condition and be able to lift weight more than 50 lbs, bending, crouching, twisting, and standing/walking for long periods of time.

As a Landscape Maintenance Labourer, your “office” is under the open sky, and no two days are the same. You’ll experience all the elements, from sunny days to rainy ones, and even the occasional snowflake. Whether it’s extreme heat, chilly mornings, or a light drizzle, you’ll embrace the weather and make the most of every day.

What’s in it for you?
  • Starting base wage of $28 - $30 per hour (depending on previous experience) and will increase based on education and tenure. Vacation pay paid out on each cheque.
  • Company vehicle at 90 days, if available, at discretion of Maintenance Manager/Director.
  • RRSP Enrollment at 1 year.
  • Benefits for those who are returning after 1 previous season.
  • Company bonus eligibility.
