Job summary

Graham Packaging Canada Limited in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to install, maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment and related controls. You will read drawings, test systems and support preventive maintenance under the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements include a 4-5 year industrial electrician apprenticeship and commonly a Red Seal; minimum 2 years in manufacturing; strong problem solving, time management and English communication skills; ability to work

Qualifications

• Two years minimum manufacturing experience in electrical work.
• Industrial electrician craft apprenticeship completed.
• Trade certification (Red Seal) preferred.
• Strong problem solving and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specs to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
• Install, inspect, repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, lighting and related components.
• Test electrical equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintain switchgear, transformers and reactors, testers and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial control systems and related devices.
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.
• May install and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices as required.

Job Summary

Graham Packaging Canada Limited is looking for a Maintenance Electrician based in Mississauga, ON.

Maintenance Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls, together with all other activities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Job Functions/Tasks:

• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
• Installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and/or other electrical components.
• Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintains, repairs, installs and tests switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors.
• Maintains, repairs, tests and installs electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
• Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.
• Conducts preventive maintenance programs and keeps accurate maintenance records.
• May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices as required.

Job Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Secondary school graduation attained together with the successful completion of a four- or five-year industrial electrician apprenticeship program required. May consider a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and college or industry courses in industrial electrical equipment.
• Trade certification mandatory with Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) preferred.
• A minimum of two (2) years previous experience in manufacturing required.
• Superior problem solving and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Has strong interpersonal skills and maintains constructive working relationships.
• Must have the ability to work independently within a defined/documented schedule.
