  • Strong computer literacy with proven experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Job description

Location: Halifax - Wilkinson, Canada

Position Summary

The role of the Maintenance Coordinator is to provide maintenance package support to the Ship Maintenance Leads and the broader Service Delivery team for managing and coordinating their assigned maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Coordinator ensures: TSN's complete all agreed maintenance activities to the required quality in a safe and environmentally friendly manner; TSN's deliver complete Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for all completed tasks; management of all special tools and test equipment loaned to TSN's; and management of all material expended or returned by the TSN's. The Maintenance Coordinator will assist the Ship Maintenance Leads in the generation and managing of reports and review of all documentation (OQE) required to close out maintenance tasks. The Maintenance coordinator will support the Ship Maintenance Leads to ensure our contracted Technical Support network (TSN) have all the necessary documentation and materials to complete their designated maintenance tasks.

Special Position Requirements
  • Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel will be required, which will include access to government facilities and assets, including naval vessels, be willing to work away from Halifax area for extended periods (up to 1 month) supporting Docking Work Periods
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Physical Environment: Office and Naval ships alongside in harbor, or at sea, therefore, must meet all federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards
  • Customer Location Based or Site Visits: Access to government facilities and assets, including naval vessels
  • Regulatory Compliance Requirements: Canada: Access to Trade Controlled Items Access to Controlled Goods Security Clearance Required to access and work in DND facilities and therefore must comply with Federal facility health regulations Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR. Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment as personnel will have direct access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program. Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Provision of general project support and administration activities to the Waterfront Service Delivery Team and Docking Delivery Team;
  • Drafting, reviewing and ensuring that maintenance instructions are complete and sufficient for service providers to complete assigned maintenance operations;
  • Overseeing maintenance activities being conducted by service providers on board naval vessels ensuring that the work is being conducted to the required quality in a safe and environmentally friendly manner;
  • Compiling Work Item closure reports, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and entering into the designated project tool for Work Item closure;
  • Generating and managing documentation and reports in various formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as and when required in support of the Service Delivery Team;
  • Ensuring subcontracted service providers have the necessary paperwork and materials to complete designated maintenance tasks;
  • Attending meetings and preparing meeting agendas and minutes;
  • Generating purchase requisitions for Suppliers and Subcontracted Services, maintaining purchase orders and ensuring the efficient financial closure of Subcontracts on behalf of the Service Delivery and Procurement teams;
  • Ensuring service provider records are complete and up to date;
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements;
  • Assisting the Service Delivery team with keeping accurate and timely records;
  • Other tasks as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Possess a technical program diploma in a marine technical field offered by a recognized technical institute or certified as a technologist/technician by a recognized provincial, state, or federal (national) licensing body in a relevant field;
  • Possess a minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated practical hands‑on experience performing and coordinating maintenance activities within the last ten (10) years;
  • Strong computer literacy, with proven experience with Microsoft products especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities;
  • Experience within procurement, project management or warehouse environments is highly desirable;
  • Project experience interfacing between internal/external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 + Years of experience working in projects and teams or in marine environments
  • Technical/Specialized Knowledge: Experience interfacing between various internal/external stakeholders within a project;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Education: Tertiary education in an Engineering, Technical, or Business/Project Management related field is desirable.
Physical Demands

Predominantly working onsite in the Naval Dockyard and onboard Naval Vessels, will also be required to work from the office or from home. Travel will be required during the execution of a Docking Work Period Will be required to undertake inspections, including confined space entry, on Naval ships involving bending and twisting. Tasks may also require working at heights. Must meet all federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash 67,200.00 - 84,000.00 CAD Annual.
