Job summary

Shannex Incorporated's Debert Court in Debert, Nova Scotia is seeking a Maintenance Coordinator to maintain facilities, equipment and grounds. You will respond to maintenance requests, assist in inspections and preventive maintenance programs, and coordinate with the Plant, Building & Safety Manager.

You will utilize PM Worx to schedule work orders, manage materials, and support safety training and drills while upholding health and safety for staff, residents, and visitors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in construction or building maintenance.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
• Advanced proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Certification in Carpentry, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing or Electrical trades is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance of facilities, equipment and grounds.
• Address maintenance requests and perform repairs as needed.
• Assist Plant, Building & Safety Manager with inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
• Process work orders via PM Worx and manage materials and tools.
• Support fire safety training, drills, and safety policy compliance.
• Ensure health and safety for employees, residents and visitors.

About The Opportunity

• Performs general maintenance duties and scheduled preventive maintenance work on physical facilities, equipment and grounds.
• Performs general repair work on structures and equipment (responds to maintenance requests).
• Assembles, moves, delivers, sets up and picks up furniture and equipment.
• Performs general repair work on structures, patches & paints any damaged walls;
• Assists the Plant, Building & Safety Manager in the inspection of buildings, grounds and equipment; carries out preventive maintenance program actions;
• Accesses PM Worx program for Preventive Maintenance schedules and to process work orders;
• Requests necessary materials, supplies, parts and tools required and maintains control of storage and use.
• Performs and documents internal and external inspections and audits.
• Accesses PM Worx program for Preventive Maintenance schedules and processes work orders through the same program.
• Participates in emergency (disaster) plan and mock disaster exercises.
• Works in conjunction with Shannex fire and safety policies to help train staff in fire safety techniques; schedules fire drills and evaluates performance effectiveness.
• Takes every precaution that is reasonable in the circumstances to ensure the health and safety of employees, residents and all others in the workplace.
• Additional duties as required.

About You

• A High School Diploma or completion of equivalent education
• 1-2 years’ experience in construction or building maintenance
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
• Advanced Proficiency in English required, other languages considered an asset
• Certification in Carpentry, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing or Electrical trades considered an asset.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading considered an asset.
• You can provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening
• A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
