Job summary

Shannex Incorporated seeks a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician/Maintenance Worker for Bedford, Nova Scotia, anticipated to join the DePaul Hall Enhanced Care team. You will perform maintenance tasks on facilities, equipment and grounds, respond to repair requests, and assist with furniture moves and setups in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma and 1–2 years in construction or building maintenance, with WHMIS and safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in construction or building maintenance.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
• Advanced Proficiency in English required; other languages considered an asset.
• Certification in Carpentry, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing or Electrical trades considered an asset.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance duties and scheduled preventive maintenance work on physical facilities, equipment and grounds.
• Performs general repair work on structures and equipment (responds to maintenance requests).
• Assembles, moves, delivers, sets up and picks up furniture and equipment.
• Performs general repair on structures, patches & prints any damaged walls.
• Assists in inspection of buildings, grounds and safety-related checks.

About The Opportunity

• Assists the Plant, Building & Safety Manager in the inspection of buildings, grounds and germology is valid

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

• A High School Diploma or completion of equivalent education
• 1-2 years’ experience in construction or building maintenance
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
• Advanced Proficiency in English required, other languages considered an asset
• Certification in Carpentry, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing or Electrical trades considered an asset.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading considered an asset
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment
