Maintenance Assistant

Location: Holland, MI

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the physical facility (building and grounds), including preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all aspects of the building are in good repair.
• Respond to maintenance requests daily.
• Maintain Unit Maintenance Log for each apartment.
• Monitor and maintain Building Inspection Schedule, including preventative maintenance and system inspections.
• Remain on call 24/7 for emergency maintenance.
• Perform routine janitorial duties to keep the building and grounds clean.
• Handle snow removal and landscaping not performed by contractors.
• Conduct annual unit inspections and complete required documentation.
• Order maintenance supplies and monitor inventory.
• Maintain dumpster area and oversee trash pickup.
• Provide welcome orientation to new residents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate attitude towards older adults.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling systems, and general repairs.
• Motivated, self-starting, task-oriented, team player with computer skills.
• Looking for someone interested in growing into a full-time role as the next Maintenance Director.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, talk, bend, stretch, pull, push, and lift.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
