Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Aide to join our team. The ideal candidate will be available for 2 - 3 shifts per week. Be a versatile individual with strong handyman skills and experience in grounds maintenance. This role involves performing a variety of tasks to ensure our facilities and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and presentable.

Responsibilities:

  • General Maintenance & Repairs:
    • Perform routine repairs and maintenance tasks on buildings and equipment.
    • Address minor plumbing issues (e.g., fixing leaks, unclogging drains).
    • Conduct basic electrical repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, troubleshooting outlets).
    • Perform carpentry tasks (e.g., repairing doors, windows, furniture).
    • Patch and paint walls, touch up surfaces.
    • Assemble and install furniture and fixtures.
    • Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical issues.
    • Assist with preventative maintenance programs.
    • Identify and report larger maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Grounds Maintenance:
    • Mow, trim, and edge lawns.
    • Weed and maintain flower beds and shrubbery.
    • Rake leaves and remove debris.
    • Water plants and lawns as needed.
    • Assist with planting and landscaping projects.
    • Maintain walkways and parking areas (e.g., sweeping, snow removal in winter).
    • Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
    • Ensure the overall cleanliness and appearance of the exterior grounds.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with moving furniture and equipment.
    • Perform custodial tasks as needed.
    • Respond to maintenance requests from staff or residents/customers.
    • Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Experience in grounds maintenance is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of general building maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (specify weight if applicable).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
