Job summary

Boart Longyear Ltd. is seeking Maintenance Apprentices (3rd–5th year) to support preventive and corrective maintenance within our manufacturing operations in Canada.

The role targets apprentices progressing toward Millwright 433A certification, working under licensed journeypersons in a unionized environment. You will maintain production equipment, read schematics, and document findings while contributing to safe, efficient operations and ongoing skill development.

Qualifications

• Technical foundation in mechanical and/or electrical systems expected.
• Ability to assist in diagnosing equipment issues and learning root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance concepts and best practices.
• Commitment to safety procedures and lock-out/tag-out protocols.
• Strong documentation of work orders, parts, and observations.

Responsibilities

• Assist preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems.
• Support troubleshooting and repair under supervision.
• Assist with component replacement, alignment, and basic calibration.
• Read schematics, blueprints, and manuals with guidance.
• Document work performed and parts used in logs/CMMS.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns with licensed technicians.
• Maintain safety procedures and PPE compliance.
• Participate in on-the-job training and skill development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
