Job summary

Boardwalk in Edmonton is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician to address maintenance requests and emergencies in resident units and common areas. You will perform renovations, touch-ups, and preventative work to uphold quality standards, while coordinating with the Customer Care Team on turnover inspections.

The role requires hands-on mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently and with others, and a valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of renovation experience.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Address maintenance requests within 72 hours.
• Perform on-call emergency maintenance per schedule.
• Renovate and touch-up vacant suites to established standards.
• Maintain general common areas and building.
• Coordinate turnover inspections with Customer Care Team.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and reporting.
• Ensure contractors complete work to standards.
• Participate in training and continuous learning.
• Assist with snow removal as needed.
• Complete required administration on a tablet.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Address requests for maintenance within 72 hours
• Perform on-call emergency maintenance according to schedule
• Vacant suite maintenance, renovations and touch-ups per established quality standards

Experience And Educational Requirements

• 2+ years of renovation experience

Technical Requirements

• Working knowledge of English language both verbal and written
• Familiarity with technology is required
• Painting and finishes - cleaning, sanding, priming, painting, textured surfaces
• Plumbing - repair and install toilets, sinks, faucets, valves, run power auger to clear blocked lines
• Electrical - replacing light fixtures, switches and receptacles
• Drywall - repair
• Countertops - repair, replace
• Floors - repair laminate, carpet, tiles, and install, repair baseboards

Nice To Have

• Additional skills and experience in framing, tiling, drywall, flooring, and plumbing
• Basic knowledge of hydronic heating systems and furnaces
• Doors, windows, and cabinets - repair, replace, and install
• Locks - repair, replace, rekey, and mastering
• Appliance - repair and install
• Asbestos abatement certification

Non-Technical Requirements

• Ensure to have majority of the tools on the tool list (list provided during interview)
• Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment (at any location as needed)
• Ability to spend up to eight hours walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting
• Ability to maneuver up to 90 kg with the proper equipment
• Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service
• Ability to fix the problem correctly the first time
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Additional Requirements

• Must have a reliable vehicle and clean driving record
• Valid driver's license
