About the position
This position requires the electrician to perform various tasks related to the electrical maintenance activities in a manufacturing facility. The successful candidate must have a good electrical and mechanical background as well as PLC experience.The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and perform various tasks safely in a production environment. This is a unionized environment and you will be subject to the terms outlined in the current collective agreement once a suitable probation period is fulfilled. Must practice safe working techniques. Must be able to read, write, and speak English, as well as possessing strong communication skills. Must be physically fit and able to work under pressure. Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions such as hot and cold temperatures and dusty environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Detail oriented with good verbal and written skills
  • Requires lifting, standing, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, bending, kneeling and working with tools
  • Troubleshooting Industrial Controls , including AB PLCs , VFDs , motor control systems , and electronic equipment
  • Continual improvement
  • Responsible for following ALL Safety Rules and Guidelines
  • Install conduits and wiring
  • Installing Lighting Fixtures , transformers , switchgear , conduit , PLC controlled systems , motors , conveyor systems
  • Install a wide variety of electrical devices and control circuits
  • Repair/rebuild/perform upgrades to electrical equipment
  • Read ladder logic diagrams and understand PLC principles
  • Perform preventative maintenance and complete work orders
  • Demonstrate excellent mechanical & electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of all electrical and electronic shop equipment and tools
  • Perform other assigned tasks as needed

  • PLC troubleshooting ability/experience would be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment
  • Variable Frequency Drives/Instrumentation and Calibration

  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication/inter-personal skills
  • Safety driven
  • The successful applicant must be able to work from heights, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, and bend. May be required to lift 55 lbs. / 22 kg. Also needs to be able to work in a variety of hot, cold, or wet conditions. Shift work, overtime and weekends will be required
Education or Work Experience
  • Must have one ofthe following trade certificates: 442A - Industrial and 309A - Construction & Maintenance
Health and Safety
  • Follow ADM health and safety standard
  • Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation
  • Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements
