Job summary

TD is seeking a Quality Engineer II - Mainframe in Toronto to lead end-to-end quality activities for medium-to-high complexity mainframe initiatives. You will define test strategies, validate COBOL, JCL, IMS, DB2, and automate where possible, driving release readiness with evidence-based decisions.

The role requires strong mainframe testing experience, knowledge of CI/CD, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to manage risks and ensure quality across complex environments.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or technical certificate in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Typically 5-7 years of quality engineering or software testing experience, including mainframe.
• Experience owning test strategy and delivery for medium-to-high complexity initiatives.
• Experience in financial services, payment processing or regulated environments is an asset.
• Experience with API or distributed-channel testing and modern mainframe automation tooling is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Own the quality engineering approach, planning, estimates and outcomes for mainframe initiatives.
• Review requirements designs and data mappings to identify testability gaps and risks.
• Design and execute end-to-end functional, system, regression and batch testing across mainframe and APIs.
• Validate COBOL processing, JCL, IMS transactions, DB2, VSAM and reports.
• Prepare test data, perform data validation with SQL, file comparisons and reconciliation checks.
• Develop and execute automated regression tests and integrate into CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead defect triage, drive timely closure and provide evidence-based release readiness.
