Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced mainframe developer to design, build, and support applications on IBM mainframe platforms.

You will work with COBOL/PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS DC/DB, and DB2, handling batch and online processing, tuning, and debugging in a production environment. You will collaborate with analysts and operations teams to ensure stability, performance, and timely deployments, while adhering to SDLC and change-management processes in a large enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/IS or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with JCL, PL/I, COBOL, CICS, IMS DC/DB, IBM DB2, SQL Server and REXX.
• Experience in production support in a controlled enterprise environment.
• Understanding of batch processing, online processing, datasets, file structures and job scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and support applications on IBM mainframe technologies.
• Develop and maintain batch and online programs using COBOL and/or PL/I with JCL scheduling.
• Work with CICS transactions and IMS DC/IMS DB for online and database processing.
• Develop, tune, and troubleshoot DB2-based programs and SQL queries.
• Support interfaces or reporting solutions involving SQL Server when required.
• Use REXX and related tools for automation and productivity improvements.
• Perform root-cause analysis for production incidents and support deployments.
• Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and infrastructure teams; participate in reviews.
