Job summary

Astra-North Infoteck Inc. in Toronto, ON is seeking a Mainframe Developer with 8–10 years of hands-on experience to translate business needs into robust mainframe solutions.

Hybrid work arrangement in Toronto, with 4 days in the office and the remainder remote, and a contract duration of 6–12 months. Responsibilities include ensuring system availability, interfacing with multiple teams, and delivering end-to-end mainframe solutions with JCL, COBOL, CICS, and DB2 expertise.

Qualifications

• Mainframe expert with extensive hands-on experience across core mainframe technologies.
• Strong knowledge of zOS, JCL, COBOL, CICS and DB2.
• Experience supporting mainframe environments and OO tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into technical requirements and develop specs.
• Ensure technical availability and performance of mainframe systems.
• Coordinate coding, testing, integration and documentation of solutions.

Job Description: Mainframe Developer

Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid (4 Days WFO)

Duration: 6-12 months

Experience Required: 8-10 yrs

Primary Skill: Mainframe DB2 - Application Development

Role Descriptions: What will you do?

• Assisting in translating business needs into technical requirements.
  
• Performing all required tasks to ensure technical availability.
  
• Assisting in interpreting operational results.
  
• Analyzing usage patterns and establishing schedules and procedures for maximum utilization of the system.
  
• Maintaining reports and reporting tools for traffic management, service centers and enterprise partners.
  
• Interacting with other organizations to develop solutions for anticipated technical needs in support of business objectives.
  
• Analyze, define and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interface with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs
• Provide cost and time estimates for assigned work packages to support the development of time tables and project plans
• Coordinate coding, testing, implementation, integration and documentation of solution
• Act as a technical solution provider (subject matter expert) to provide solutions that potentially impact other dependent projects and applications
