Job summary

CMI Heavy Industries in the Niagara Region is seeking an experienced machinist to read blueprints, set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools, and verify part dimensions with precision instruments.

The role requires 5 years or more of experience in general manufacturing, on-site work, and strong attention to detail. On-the-job training and opportunities to contribute to quality control are offered.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and precision in measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
  • Set up and adjust production machineries/tools.
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
  • Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
