Job summary

A defense technology firm is seeking an experienced Machinist in Saguenay, QC to inspect, repair, and manufacture components for the CF-18 aircraft. Candidates should have a high school diploma and considerable experience in machining. Technical proficiency with both manual and CNC machines, as well as the ability to read intricate technical drawings, is essential. Fluency in French and English is necessary due to contractual obligations. A competitive compensation package of $60,000 - $100,000 CDN annually is offered.

Job Schedule: Day Shift

Compensation Range: Between $60,000 - 100,000 CDN annually

Essential Functions:
  • Inspect, repair, machine and modify CF-18 components in the machine shop.
  • Manufacture, machine and modify special tools.
  • Support the manufacturing of metal tubes used on the CF-18 aircraft.
  • Attend training / information sessions as required.
  • Keep Lead Hand or Supervisor informed on technical problems, schedule problems, additional requirements and technician’s welfare.
  • Follow Tool Control rules and regulations.
  • Consult reference documentation such as CFTOs, work processes and other related documentation.
  • Complete forms, aircraft registers and other documentation properly and as required.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Lead Hand or Team Supervisor.
  • Health and Safety.
  • FOD - Foreign Object Damage.
  • Flight Safety.
  • Documentation and records.
  • Work Instruction.
  • Process specifications.
Qualifications:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post‑Secondary or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Training in the use and/or programming of manual, semi‑automated or automated tools and machines. (Lathes, CNC, Milling machines, etc.)
  • Know how to read and understand instructions and technical drawings.
  • Know how to inspect, repair and machine components.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of DMS.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both languages (French and English). The knowledge of the English language, other than the French language is necessary due to contractual requirements.
  • Endorsement on CF188 (asset).
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
