A leading manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Operator to join their team in Edmonton. This role is responsible for the efficient operation of machines within the plastics manufacturing sector, particularly extrusion blow molding. Candidates should have a strong mechanic aptitude and the ability to solve issues under pressure. Responsibilities include calibrating machines, maintaining safety standards, and supervising team members. An ideal applicant will possess a high school diploma and have relevant machine operation experience.
The Operator is responsible for efficient operation and production of machines and equipment. This position will ensure machines and equipment are operating at optimum performance levels ensuring exceptional quality of the product. This position must have a strong understanding of the machines, technically inclined and an ability to analyze situations to find solutions.
The position must have knowledge and experience in plastics manufacturing including extrusion blow molding.
Responsibilities
Follow the process control parameters
Adjust molding machines and perform calibration checks ensuring accuracy and making sure machines run at optimum performance levels
Verify the quality of the product through inspections and testing
Monitor the rejected product and perform a waste count
Report operational deficiencies to management
Ensure the completion and accuracy of all required reports relating to production and machine performance
Conduct daily preventative maintenance on the machines
Conduct minor repairs and replacement of parts on machines as required
Palletize all products as needed
Train, monitor and supervise your assigned team, ensuring employees are performing their job duties
Be a point of contact and communicate effectively regarding employee issues when required
Communicate with drivers and customers on night shift
Ensure plant adheres to safety and environmental rules
Maintain daily housekeeping ensuing working area is kept safe and clear of excess debris
Support other departments as needed
Always adhere to company safety policies
Ensure all policies and procedures are followed
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
1+ years of experience working as an extrusion blow molding machine operator
Aptitude for problem solving and mechanics
Proficiency with hand tools
Able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
An ability to remain focused and efficient while working within tight deadlines
An ability to resolve issues in high pressure situations
Excellent communication and organization skills and an ability to resolve conflicts and problems
An ability to lift 15 lbs.
Able to work a rotating shift schedule
High level of integrity and work ethic
An ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times within the facility
