Job summary

Wayfair in Toronto, ON is seeking talented ML/GenAI engineers to design and deploy large-scale models that power customer experiences. This role supports a hybrid schedule with onsite Tue-Thu in the Toronto office and remote Mon and Fri; relocation may be considered.

You will develop GenAI-driven content optimization, explore long-form text and image generation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce production-ready ML solutions at scale.

Candidates for this position are to be based, or plan to relocate, to Toronto, ON and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements. Our teams are onsite in our Toronto office Tuesday-Thursday, and remote Monday and Friday.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, deploy and refine large-scale machine learning models and algorithmic decision-making systems that solve real-world problems for customers
• Develop cutting-edge GenAI and LLM applications powered by reinforcement learning to optimize content across marketing channels.
• Architect Wayfair's GenAI-driven content optimization infrastructure, balancing cost and performance.
• Research GenAI content-generation applications beyond existing short-form text use cases, including long-form text and images.
• Build agentic AI solutions that generate insights and optimize channel analytics workflows.
• Empower non-Science stakeholders to optimize content using centralized algorithms and production systems

We Are a Match Because You Have

• Minimum 0+ years of experience with PhD, or 2+ years of industry experience with MS, or 4+ years of experience with a BS in a quantitative STEM field.
• Proficiency in Python or one other high-level programming language
• Must have a strong theoretical understanding and solid hands-on expertise deploying machine learning solutions into production.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to synthesize conclusions for non-experts, and overall bias towards simplicity
• Intellectual curiosity and enthusiastic about continuous learning

Nice To Have

• Experience with Python ML ecosystem (numpy, pandas, sklearn, XGBoost, etc.) and/or Apache Spark Ecosystem (Spark SQL, MLlib/Spark ML) Familiarity with GCP (or AWS, Azure), ML model development frameworks, ML orchestration tools (Airflow, Kubeflow or MLFlow)
