Job summary

The Erb Group is seeking a Dock Loader/Receiver to join our refrigerated dock operations in Canada. You will load trucks and trailers, verify weights and temperatures, and support dock staff and drivers on a night shift schedule.

From the dock to the warehouse, you’ll operate a forklift and pallet-jack, adhere to safety and weight requirements, and contribute to accurate freight processing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of forklift experience.
• Knowledge of Erb’s systems and operations is an asset.
• Ability to work in a cold, refrigerated environment for up to 8 hours is necessary.
• Must be able to list up to 70lbs.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Positive communication skills as it pertains to interacting with dock staff, operations, and drivers.

Responsibilities

• Fully understand Erb Transport’s handling of freight on the dock; duties of both Dock Loaders and Dock Receivers.
• Load straight-trucks and trailers destined for locations while ensuring proper temperatures and minimal damages.
• Judge freight volumes for trailers, cubing, re weighing and additional reporting as needed.
• Set up dock floor and line up freight so orders can be found efficiently and accurately.
• Read and cross-reference freight bills to match with products according to manifests; ensure legal weights and space.
• Operate pallet-jack and forklift safely; report equipment needing repairs.
• All other duties as required.

Shift: Monday to Thursday 8:00pm-4:30am & Friday 6:00pm-2:30am.

SUMMARY

To ensure dedicated trucks are loaded, unloaded, and processed accurately, according to weight requirements, availability of space, and variety of freight.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fully understand Erb Transport’s handling of freight on the dock. Understand duties of both Dock Loaders and Dock Receivers.
• Load straight-trucks as well as trailers destined for specific locations, while avoiding damages by ensuring equipment is set at correct temperatures.
• Judging freight volumes for trailers, cubing, re weighing and additional reporting as needed.
• Set up dock floor and line up freight so that orders can be found efficiently and accurately.
• Read and cross-reference freight bills to match with actual products according to manifests. Ensure trucks are loaded according to legal weights and space allotted for the product.
• Operate pallet-jack and forklift in a safe manner. Inform appropriate personnel of any equipment requiring repairs and/or follow-up.
• All other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Hourly position. Based upon 40 hours per week with the potential for overtime.
• Employees will work in a refrigerated dock and, at times, in a freezer.
